For over 2 decades Samantha has been helping academic conferences run smooth and stress-free. She runs a few successful groups to help other eventprofs raise their visibility and hit their career goals.
What do you typically help events with?
With over 20 years experience, I’m here to make the process of putting on your next event stress-free and successful. From bringing your ideas and brief to life, to ensuring the absolute best value for money, to creating an incredible attendee experience, your event is in expert hands.
Based in Cambridge, I specialise in academic conferences and event management, covering all aspects of the process from venue finding to speaker management and beyond.
Think of me as your dedicated event manager. I can fit seamlessly into your team as your events expert or I can work independently and bring on board my own team as needed for complex or large scale events. As a freelance event manager I can be flexible like that and work with your needs.
What's a recent event you've worked on?
I planned and organised a series of events for event professionals which took place in 2020. The one day events were called Elevate Your Events Career and took place in March, April and June 2020. The event was free to attend and hosted on Streamyard.
The purpose of the events was to provide lots of tips, tricks and strategies from industry experts so that event profs could take action during this time and be ready when the events industry gets back to normal! All the videos are available to watch here.
"Samantha flawlessly executed all communications at our event location, ranging from overseeing food and beverage to negotiating room rates. She also liaised with symposium participants before, during and after the Symposium to ensure that all necessary communication was provided. Being based in the United States, I worked with Samantha remotely for a year before meeting her in-person at the symposium. Although we were an ocean away, she was still able to execute all of her responsibilities and duties. I highly recommend her and would gladly work with her again for future events!"

Share one tip you have for running a successful event.
When you are looking for the correct platform to host your event, work out what you want the platform to do first and write down a list of requirements/capabilities that you need. Then go and find the platform which works with your needs.
Also, think of ways in which to engage the participants and keep them involved during the whole event such as sending gift boxes or delegates boxes in advance with items that they could enjoy during the coffee breaks or lunch breaks.
Anything else we should know?
I am passionate about helping event professionals raise their visibility in the events industry and set up Get Ahead in Events FB Group which now has over 800 event profs in there.
I also run a paid membership – the Events Career Club to help event profs raise their game and confidently move towards their career goals with the support of an industry expert and community of event profs by their side every step of the way.
